Full Description
DSIP (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) is a nonapeptide first isolated in 1974 from the cerebral venous blood of rabbits induced into slow-wave sleep by electrical stimulation of the thalamus. It crosses the blood-brain barrier. Research attributes to it multiple physiological roles: induction of delta-wave (slow-wave) sleep, reduction of ACTH and cortisol under stress, modulation of opioid pathways for pain, antioxidant activity, and normalization of blood pressure. Uniquely, it exhibits amphoteric stress-buffering — reducing stress-induced cortisol without suppressing baseline HPA axis function.
Mechanism of Action
Modulates sleep-wake cycle via thalamic and limbic pathways. Buffers HPA axis stress response without suppressing baseline cortisol. Interacts with opioid receptors for analgesia. Antioxidant activity via reduction of lipid peroxidation.
